Aaron Rents, Inc. Appoints B. Lee Landers, Jr. Chief Information Officer

ATLANTA, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Aaron Rents, Inc. (NYSE: RNT), the leader in rental, rental purchase and the specialty retailing of residential and office furniture, consumer electronics, and household appliances today announced that B. Lee Landers, Jr., has been appointed to the newly created position of Vice President, Chief Information Officer of the Company. Mr. Landers previously was Manager, Customer Service System of the Southern Company based in Atlanta.

At Aaron Rents, Mr. Landers will be responsible for strategic planning and direction of information systems for all divisions of the Company, said R. Charles Loudermilk, Sr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, in announcing the appointment. "This new position is necessitated by the strong growth of Aaron Rents and the increasing significance of technology in our business," Mr. Loudermilk said. "Lee Landers has the experience and skills to direct our information systems to support our future growth."

During the past 18 years, Mr. Landers has held various engineering and systems analyst positions with the Southern Company. He has been in technology management for the past 10 years, and most recently as Manager, Customer Service System, reported to the chief information officer of the company.

Mr. Landers is a 1981 Industrial Engineering graduate of Georgia Tech and received a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University in 1986.

Aaron Rents, Inc., based in Atlanta, has a total of 458 Company-operated and franchised profit centers in 36 states for the rental and sale of residential and office furniture and accessories, consumer electronics and household appliances. The Company manufactures furniture, bedding and accessories at eleven facilities in four states.
